Missions
Missions is a very integral part of not only Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, but our Christian walk as a whole. When our faith is in Christ and our eternity is in His hands, our hearts can’t help but reach out towards others to pass along the same blessings that Christ has bestowed upon us and in doing so we truly become God’s hands and feet.
Jesus gave us the great commission in Matthew 28. He said, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” But where do we begin? How can we be a part of disciple making?
Jesus led a life of example. We don’t need to reinvent disciple making, Christ has already shown us. Beyond his example, he spoke clearly to us in Matthew 25 insisting that those blessed to inherit the kingdom have done his call while the ‘righteous’ sit in confusion. Christ said,
“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’”
The mission of a Christian is simple, ‘See a need, fill a need’ as we journey through life sharing that life changing Gospel that has turned our hearts from ourselves towards others.
